AJust wandering what the ballpark is for shipping the largest size? I am going to be ordering one of each size in round and square, but don't want to pay a huge shipping cost. They won't tell me anything, I have to place an order they said. Also want to know for those who have purchased, how do you like them? Are they sturdy enough? -Any other thoughts.

Any help is appreciated.

masonite is industry standard--awesome material for cake boards

an idea for you is to purchase it locally and have it cut to order

not sure what's around white earth nd but just a thought

hardware store or lumber store should have it

but it think 'white earth' is the most beautiful name of a city!

masonite is better than wood because it is lighter in weight and smooth and very very sturdy

i also use 1/2 inch foamcore for bottom boards

We've been using masonite boards from CK for years and I recommend them.

The boards are very sturdy--the ones I've ordered are a brown color, so I still have to cover them with something to make them look nice,  They're also thin--3/16", so not enough room to put a ribbon around the edge, so have a hard time making that edge look good. My CK shipping costs have really skyrocketed the last few months, and every time I've ordered 1 or 2 boards, they've sent them as a separate box, which means shipping is around

$10.

I switched to the cake drums--I don't have to cover them with fondant if I don't want, edge is wide enough to add ribbon (or not), and sturdy. Problem is you have to order 5 or 6 of one size.

ALove the CK boards, without a doubt. Would bnever go back to the old cardboard, or anything else for that matter. Masonite the only way to go!

I have ordered masonite boards from countrykitchensa.com.  I glue two together to make it thicker.  Put feet on the bottom.  I put an adress label on the back so I can get it back.  I only do cakes for friends and family.

I buy mine at the mat maker Sweetwise. :) I had 3 of mine turned into a cupcake stand by a friend at work and he told me that it looked just like MDF. I'm going to be buying a sheet of that and get it chopped up into several sizes for me, especially recatangles because the store where I bought the rounds and squares don't have rectangle ones.

I am not sure if Sweetwise sells the masonite boards online or not.
