AI have to make a wedding cake in a few weeks.. I'm trying to find the easiest and nicest way to make black scrolls on ivory fondant cakes.. it will be a 4 tiered cake.. is it best to decorate each tier separately then stack at hall.. or stack and decorate then transport to hall??
piping of course--
i'm liking rolling fondant sausages and applying them--would be a nice textural effect
i don't know either method is cool for that
i would have it all decorated before delivery
then just depends on how much help i have, how heavy the tiers are
could be all stacked or stacked on site
personal choice of the decorator
AI like K8memphis idea. Of rolling the black fondant or even gum paste. I would decorate the cake as much as possible and depending on how far you have to travel; I would decide by that. If its a long bumpy road I would assemble on site to prevent the cake from sinking, pieces from falling off, or the cake from tipping/ sliding. Sabrina
thank you both very much!
if you draw some scroll designs on paper then tape that to a cardboard and cover with plastic wrap you can make the same shapes & sizes for a very nice effect from a kerry vincent cake i did from her beautiful book romantic wedding cakes
(this cake was well proportioned but the camera does not show it to best advantage)
anyhow
oh yeah, use colored fondant--i would not wanna paint these after applying
you do not wanna try to apply scrolls that are already dusted
because you have to moisten the back to get them to adhere and
the dust makes a mess
i just recommned nice black fondant
dust after if necessary
AThanks:) its about 40 min drive.. I rather assemble at hall.. easier and less stressful..
