I'd like to make a 3D teddy bear cake with his arms extended (somewhat like a zombie!).  How would I do that?  So far I'm thinking RKT on wooden dowels, but how do I securely attach them to the main cake?

ALet me start by saying that I've never built a carved cake that would require this type of structure so I'm guessing here.:D. I would build a structure something like a football goal post but with the upright parts layed over. HTH!

look through your plumbing supply parts at a Lowe's or somewhere ike that

or

go to the plumbing store and talk to the salesperson there

you need a joint that looks like a 't'' then pvc pipe to fit in there to make the shoulders and pvc to make the 'backbone' that is firmly planted into foam so ti all stands up for you

then shoulder joints-- 90 degree fitting

then pvc for uper arm

then elbow joints-- 45 degree fitting (well for zombie effect you don't need these maybe)

pvc for lower arm

all of those have many different sizes so you need to get it all to fit to each other
