I am using a 3D Hoffritz Christmas Tree silicone pan. The problem is the top of the tree is much more shallow than the bottom of the tree so it is baking the top much quicker than the bigger part causing it to be hard as a rock and not cooked through. The edges are browning more as well. Should I use a cake nail? Foil the sides? Please help.

I am not familiar with that pan.
However what if you thought of a two layer tree. Making that ordinarily one layer cake into two for baking purposes.Where you put the silicone pan on a cookie sheet and put a butter knife under neath it to make the cake bake level. (but it'll be too short in that one part) Then just do the opposite and bake off enough batter to get the thicker part baked--you can trim off any drier parts and use the cookie sheet set up if you need to. Stick 'em together and away you go.
