HI, I am very new to this whole sceen and I am having the worst luck with a good vanilla cake recipe. I have googled recipes for vanilla cake and everyone I do seems to come out too dry! I do other flavors and they always come out perfect. I cant figure out what I am doing wrong. Any suggestions or good recipes someone would be willing to share? Thanks
AEgg, Sugar and little shortening can lead to a dry cake. Under beating your batter can also lead to a cake that will crumble. Also if your pan is large and you don't have enough batter to compensate your cake may over process causing it to be tough or crumble. There could be a lot of different reasons but just remember one thing everyones kitchens, ovens, temperatures, climates etc are all different. Even the most skilled baker had to try over and over and over until they got the perfect result that was consistent.
HI, lots of people on this site say to google beyondbuttercream(she is a member here) and they love her white and butter cake recipe that she gives on her blog. I have the recipes , but have not used them yet. hth
Yes, definitely google Beyondbuttercream (formerly fromscratchsf). I have baked her cake and it is now my go-to white/vanilla cake recipe. I have never had it fail me. It's delicious! Makes good cupcakes, too. You'll really like her cake.
