Holiday Cupcake Ideas

I am making WASC cupcakes, iced with SMBC, flavored with my homemade lemon curd for an adult Christmas party at our boat club.  Does anyone have any cool ideas for decorating these to look festive and maybe a bit more sophisticated than your average cupcake?  Thank you so much in advance. :)

when i was young, my mother used to make wreths out of dyed green shredded coconut and then put little drops of red icing on... but i'm not too sure that coconut will go with lemon.. not sure what would go with lemon to be honest.. the only other thing i can think of would be to buy little christmas trinkets like for a tiny tree and put them on top, then they'd have a little gift to take home after the cupcakes have been devoured
