circus theme cake!!!HELP PLEASE

My daughter is turning 2and were gonna do a circus/carnival theme for her party.....i either have to make this cake or make cupcakes that look like popcorn and a sheet cake...idk which one..

which one would you choose and any help on how to make the clown cake? im new to decorating cakes and i was going to take the baking lessons at micheals but i read online and found out that they teach stuff that this website has...
