Help discoloring on cake

Please help. I have to fix this now for a wedding this afternoon. I made a wedding cake for a friend. It is a casual wedding where everything is homemade. I did my crumb coat of buttercream. And then I did my colored coat of buttercream. After the buttercream hardened I smoothed it out a little. Now where I smoothed it out the color of the frosting is different. How can I fix this. Can I use powdered sugar on a make up brush or could I take a hair dryer at low heat and make it even.

I've had this happen when I tried to smooth IMBC with a hot spatula.  Not sure how you fix it though.  You could try icing/confectioners sugar not sure it will work though.   I wouldn't use a hair dryer though.

I'm sure by now you have finished any attempt to fix this but for future knowledge:

 

If you used a hot spatula OR water to do your smoothing there is nothing  you can do.  For the most past I know YOU are the only one who will notice this color change :)  Don't worry about it.  If nothing else, try adding more decorations to hide the problem.  In this case, I'd add a small border.

Hi there

 

Not sure if you were able to fix it, as its now much later of course. BUT when I've worked with coloured buttercream, if the first layer has crusted, and you then go over some areas etc (With the same buttercream batch) then it will look lighter. BUT you just leave it be and as it dries the colours will blend.
