How do you price your kitchen cakes? Is it the same price as your normal sheet cakes? Do you price it by serving? If so, is it the same price per serving as your tiered cakes or is it at a different price per serving?

What every my double Half (or quarter) costs. I do a double so when cut (in the kitchen), it gives the appearance of the wedding cake slices. They are only iced and bordered.

Per serving. ALL per serving prices are the same,. The shape of the cake has no bearing on it. And a cake slice is 8 cubic inches, no mater how you cut it to get there.

Lets be clear. I do not offer sheet cakes. They do not look the same as the wedding cake & people notice (2 layer v. 4 layer). If the bride is really insistent either for decor or budget, I offer kitchen cakes. These are the same shape as the wedding cake (so they look the same). The big difference is they are quick iced. I crb coat then put a thin outer coat. I don't worry about them being smooth, etc.
I charge per cake for these. They are much less work. However, my delivery fee is more expensive. I know have more trips etc during delivery. Most of the time it ends up being close enough in cost that brides opt for the bigger cake. Still, makes me look like I am willing to work with brides & budget.

It's never "just cake!"
You may get a cake for $way to little but you won't get this cake!

I charge the same as I do for wedding cakes or birthday cakes, they cost the same to make. And they use an extra board, take up more storage space and more boxes, plus it means I have to bake an extra couple of layers instead of just doing a larger tier, which means more time involved in the whole process. I'm talking about two-layer cakes, not a single sheet.
