Making Fondant Look Like Stone?

Good morning,

 

Does anybody have any idea how to get fondant to look like stone?  Im making a Skylanders portal (photo below), but I cant figure out how to get the texture!  Thank you!!!

Thank  you so much for your reply!  I saw that thread, but is seemed to have talked more about small rocks and not about how to get texture on a stone wall.  I appreciate the link you provided!

Edited: Oops. Those appear to be for concrete. However, depending on the size and the price.........You might want to check out a building supply store.

I wish I had time to order, but its a last minute cake that I have to make tonight.  Thank you for the links!  Its the look Im going for!

If I had to do this, I might try rolling out the fondant, then take a crumpled brown paper grocery bag and make impressions in the fondant.

I just read this thread as I was making my son's Power of Portal Skylanders cake. The crumpled brown bag approach worked great!!! I used homemade fondant and I think it turned out pretty good.  It's difficult to see in the picture, but the texture was perfect. Then I added depth by using black food coloring deluted with water to paint the cracks of the stone. I am an amature and this cake isn't perfect, but my son is thrilled!
