Site copycat

Hello, in particular to all computer savvy members!

Today I've discovered a website almost identical to mine (not the photos, just text) - copied almost word by word (even my personal considerations and opinions icon_smile.gif), sometimes changing just a word or two in a phrase, sometimes copying them completely. Even the serving chart I've created specifically to accomodate the most requested serving size here (nearest is the Earlene's serving chart) was copied completely, including the layout, borders, font color etc...

I wouldn't mind a lot if it was somebody from another country - completely missing immagination by the way. But it's a cake lady selling her cakes just 20 min from my place. I contacted her twice - to let her know (if she didn't know already but I highly doubt that) and to eliminate all copied content giving her also my website link to check it. She denies everything and says there is nothing wrong with her site and not even knowing about my site icon_rolleyes.gif.

What can I do at this point? Whom to contact (I'm not in the US)? Thanks in advance for any advice!

What website company do you use? I would guess that you would start with them to inquire about copyright infrigements.

Thanks Dani1081 for your reply!

I use switchplus.ch (domain and webhosting). I'll start asking there, no idea how all this works thoughicon_sad.gif.

It's just sad to have spent days having my website done last year and then find some people just copying freely the contents without making any effort to create their own site.

You would need to contact the web hosting provider for the copycat site and file a DMCA takedown notice. You can find out who the web host is by looking at the technical contact info after entering the copycat site here:
http://www.whois.net/

Here is a sample takedown notice:

Thank you a lot Jason, I knew you'd chime in icon_smile.gif.

I've contacted their web hosting provider, let's see what will happen.

Thanks again!
