icon_cry.gif I am trying to cover with MMF. I have only done this once before and this is NOT going well icon_mad.gif I have rolled it out just fine, measured me circle. Not the aggravating part. I begin to smooth it out but the sides has excess fondant. Do I trim and try to smooth. Because It aint smoothing the seams to well and looks HORRIBLE. icon_cry.gif What am I doing wrong!

As you work with the fondant on the cake, make sure you are not streching out the fondant. It will "grow" if you do and then you will have to trim it and resmooth. If this has alreasy happened, just trim the excess and smooth what is left.

Okay, I did a few more and got that figured out. Whew!! Now, any suggestions on covering a 16"! I am invisioning that once I roll it out I am going to tear it trying to move it to the cake!

Good Luck to you!!! I tried MMF on a 12" round and had such a hard time with it. I guess the fact that I'm a newbie didn't help the situation either icon_lol.gif

Well, do you have a cake board that size, because it is easier to slide onto the cake when you slide the fondant onto a board to transfer it over onto the cake.
Basically with covering a cake with fondant, you are best off having the board the cake sits on, about the same size as the cake. Then if you can move the boarded cake so that it is up on a pedestal or elevated and what it is raised up on, well you need your fondant to be able to hang freely over it, so that it isn't sitting puddled on some surface. You sort of take the fondant on the sides so that it is away from the cake, sort of like you would do when hemming a full skirt, you lift it away from the cake as you are smoothing it. Does that make sense?
