Any ideas how to make this flower?

I'm trying to see if anyone can give me any sort of direction on how to make the large gumpaste rose in the URL below. The first picture on the page is the big purple rose I'm referring to, or there is a picture below it with a large red rose. I know how to make a gumpaste rose but not this huge and I'm not sure how I would secure it to the cake. Any ideas? Thanks!

Goreti,  That is a very pretty cake once she puts the petals on the cake? Do you think all of the petals are artificial flowers? I think it would be prettier if she put a flower in the middle part of the petals on the bottom front part of the cake to kind of balance it out with the top flower which also had a middle single rose. Just my opinion!!  But never the less it was very pretty!!!
