after I layer my cakes with a thin layer of filling my frosting wants to suck into the layer making it look distorted what am I doing wrong?

Did you put a dam of butter cream frosting around the outer edge in between your cake layers before putting the top layer on to hold in your filling?
There are a lot more people on here that can probably answer your question better than I can since I don't do cakes for a living. It is just a hobby for me. Hopefully, someone here will know immediately what is going on with your cake. I will be watching this thread to learn also as I am an amateur myself and am trying to learn more too.
