cake layers

after I layer my cakes with a thin layer of filling my frosting wants to suck into the layer making it look distorted what am I doing wrong?

Did you put a dam of butter cream frosting around the outer edge in between your cake layers before putting the top layer on to hold in your filling?

There are a lot more people on here that can probably answer your question better than I can since I don't do cakes for a living. It is just a hobby for me.  Hopefully, someone here will know immediately what is going on with your cake.  I will be watching this thread to learn also as I am an amateur myself and am  trying to learn more too.

Good luck/Mary

I'm not picturing what you mean :(

Is it possible your filling is too thin/wet & is soaking into the cakes?

If your layers are level and you are using a thin layer of filling I don't see how the cake can look loopsided/distorted.
