after I layer my cakes with a thin layer of filling my frosting wants to suck into the layer making it look distorted what am I doing wrong?

I'm not picturing what you mean :(
Is it possible your filling is too thin/wet & is soaking into the cakes?
If your layers are level and you are using a thin layer of filling I don't see how the cake can look loopsided/distorted.
