buttercream stripes and color help

Hi! I have a cake due 12/1 that will look like this. The stripes need to be buttercream. I think I can manage it, but we've had a family emergency, so I'm not going to have the time to experiment. Any hints/tricks? Also, if you know which americolor color is closest to this blue, please share. Sorry to clog up the board with such simple questions. I just need all the help I can get right now.  Thanks so much!!

I did one sim. to this.  I frosted the cake primary color. Then took a 1 " scraper and scraped teh stripes while turning the turntable.  I used a pastry bag filled with stripe color with flat tip as close as I could fing to stripe size,  I filled stripes then when buttercream was crusted, I used a viva paper towel and a fondant smoother to make the surface flat.  Hope this helps!  GL

My suggestion would be to ice the cake in white crusting b'cream - let it set up until you can touch it w/o any icing coming off on your finger, then place wax paper or maybe a paper towel over the places you want to remain white while adding the red icing using a quick icer OR just spatula it on and smooth.  After it has crusted, remove the paper, then you can use a paper towel to completely smooth the whole cake.
