I am making a b-day cake for a friends daughter and some of my gel food colors have dried up. Is there a way to fix them? I really need a reply fast. Thanks to any and all who can help.

The only thing I can think of is maybe put a little vanilla or vodka in it.

You will have to cut open those bottles and scrape out any softish gel with toothpicks.

You can add vodka, glycerine, any clear extract or piping gel to soften.  You will have to grind the lumps with something like a mortar and pestle or you will have lumps in your icing.  No mortar, then use the back of a teaspoon on a small plate.  Lots of mess to clean up but you should be able to rescue enough to do this cake.

Thank you everyone for the quick replies. I have some clear vanilla. I will give it a try. icon_biggrin.gif
