Hello - I am struggling with what to charge for this cake. The potential customer is wanting a 10 inch round with three layers of chocolate cake, filled with two layers of pink buttercream. The cake would be covered in black fondant, with fondant decor like in the photo I have attached. Only difference would be the name on it and the fact that it does not appear the cake is sitting on a drum and this one would be. I have the Cake Boss software and have a decent idea on what it will cost, although since I am not sure exactly how much fondant it will take since it's three layers and I usually deal with two, some of my pricing is a estimate. Of course I have to include extra for my time, etc. Having done so, I am thinking of $95. I live in the midwest, if that makes a difference. Am I asking too much?

AHow many hours do you estimate it will take you to complete, and about how much will the ingredients cost?

You're probably in the right ballpark, we would charge $104.

Good for you for having CakeBoss software AND knowing what you costs will be!!!!  I agree with Jason that prices in the $95 to $105 range sound reasonable.  Be aware that even though it may sound reasonable to you and other custom bakers, it may cause sticker shock in the client.  I suggest that you practice responses to "How Much???!!!" and stick to your pricing.
