I had the same issues with that pan at first...now what I do is bake at 350 for about an hour and 15 minutes. I put a piece of foil over the top of the cake pan so the cake doesn't brown at all, it also locks in some of the heat making it bake fast...I just lay it over top, don't crumple it around the pan making it tight.
Make sure you are also using the metal post that comes with the pan, this should be down the center of your cake batter, that will help heat to go through the center of the cake, making it bake faster and more evenly.
When the cake is nearly done (I can touch the top and it starts to spring back but still leaves a bit of an indent from my finger,) I take the foil off and let the top get a little golden hue to it.
I always cut these cakes at least in half and put icing between the halves (who wants to each 12" of cake with no icing??) helps with the cake/icing ratio, and I get to make sure it's cooked through!

What else can you make with this pan besides the doll cakes? I had bought this pan to make a neighbor little girl the doll cake and she loved it. I ended up making it with a pound cake. I appreciate the additional information about putting aluminum foil over the top. I am wondering now if I can put foil over the round cake pans and the 9 x 13 pans which may help the cakes not to dome as much. What does anyone else think? Please let me know what else I can make with this wonder doll pan. Thanks for any information. It is greatly appreciated/Mary

@ KHalstead Thank you so much!! I have to use this pan this weekend and I will definitely use your technique.
@ remnant3333 I tried adding the link where I found suggestions for uses of the pan, but I was unable to. But here is how I hound it: Go to www.sugarcrat.com. On the left margin, scroll down to "pans". Click "people, dolls, etc". you will see the Magic Mold cake pan. Click on "Ideas Galore". The page that opens will have 15 different Ideas you can use the pan for. And that opens the doorway for your imagination to create more
. In addition to those ideas, I also used the Wonder Mold to create the turkey cake, in my gallery. have fun!!
