Yeah, page 3, 4 are also recipes....so I continued page by page and found (!!) the rest of my favorite images on page 18 wow!! ---all I can say is that this site was fine the way it was before. So, why 'fix it' if it wasn't broken??!!! it really sucks now...no kidding!

I don't like it at all. It's very confusing. I used to be able to put my user ID in the Key Words, that way when someone asked to see my cakes I could just have them do a search on my user ID and they would all come up - but there is no longer a Key Words section. I haven't figured out yet how they can do a search and find just my photos. I don't like any of it!

I haven't done much on the 'new' site except read the new posts so I am not having trouble manuvering around. All I do want to say is every time some change/improvements are made to most any site - and there have been several times on this one - we go through this "I hate it" thing.
PLEASE take time to let them work out all the bugs and take your time learning the changes. It won't take all that long and you will be moving around on here just as well, if not better than before :)

I have been able to sort some things out through trial & error but I really liked the way it used to be! I am however willling to give CC time to sort out the bugs & hope it will improve. I am having some major problems but I see so many of you are having the same problems that I just hope that the administrators are taking notice??? I have been a member for many years & love CC, hope everything gets sorted out soon.
I just went to find something in my saved private messages and there no longer is such a thing! Now every message I sent is in Sent Messages and every message I have ever received is in Inbox. This means you cannot see a list of the messages (sent and responses) in chronological order like they used to appear in Saved Messages. I made a Saved folder and moved the messages in my Inbox to there, but I can't move things out of my Sent Messages to there. Therefore, I cannot make one list of sent messages and responses in chronological order - i.e., what I asked and what the response was.
This is nuts! So far, there is NOT ONE THING about the new site design that is an improvement. ![]()

I think as soon as I move my favorite photos to folders and subfolders on my external hard drive and move my favorite recipes to my recipe folder on the same drive, I'm done with this site. I've learned a lot in the past 2 years and I hope I've helped a few people, but lately I am more annoyed and frustrated and have less fun here.

Hello All, first, the old website platform was built on coding language that computers don't speak anymore, programmers don't code for anymore, and servers don't serve anymore. Remember all the times CC has gone down over the past year? Yeah, that's why. Most of you probably have no idea the heroics that had to be done to keep the site up without loosing all it's data - that means massive amounts of money and a lot of manpower has to be spent by CC to keep all the user profiles, threads, photos and recipes from going POOF. Gone. So think about it this way, the old site was a 1972 Datsun, it had 450,000 miles on it and is about to seriously die for good and strand you in the middle of the desert with no cell reception. You can either keep slapping on very expensive band-aids that won't do you any good much longer and take your chances crossing an endless desert, or you can tearfully retire the Datsun and buy a 2013 Porsche. Yeah, driving the Porsche with all it's fancy buttons, dials and doo-hickies may take some getting used to, but it's the right thing to do.
So yeah... there is NO going back.
Second, of course CC is watching, reading and taking in all feedback!
Third, the new site has been in beta for several months and had many, many people - current CC members like me as well as the programming staff at Huddler - testing testing testing. We (mostly they because I've been super busy so I don't mean to take too much credit here) did the best we could.
Fourth, I venture to guess the site is having issues running on Internet Explorer because I have had zero issues using Chrome - but I don't know this for sure. If someone hasn't already, please email CC or post a thread in the technical issue section of the forums and let them know.
Fifth, I don't understand the privacy thing - your privacy is no more open with the new site then it was before. People could see when you were online before and people could read all the threads you posted on. You probably just had no idea and never paid any attention to it. All I had to do is type "fromscratchsf cake central" into Google and every thread I've ever posted on since I joined this site would pop up - good, bad and ugly. All the new site did was add the ability for people to follow you and get an email when you post anything new. All I can say is if you have issues with someone following your online thread postings, then you shouldn't be posting online!
Last, give it a chance! A lot of really hard work went into this site to get it on par with other sites of it's size.

Re the beta, things might have gone more smoothly if a public beta of the new platform was heavily advertised before the go-live. Even better if the two platforms were enabled simultaneously displaying the same live data (forum threads, photos, etc.). But since we can't change the past your best bet is to simply report any issues you find and be patient.
The IE9 problems are not specific to CC since other Huddler-based forums have reported issues with IE9.

The old CC forum software was based on a platform called PHP, which is still widely used and supported. In fact Huddler's platform is also based on PHP. I'm not sure if the old platform was custom coded or not, but to add new features and make improvements it is sometimes more efficient to outsource the technology side to experts (i.e. Huddler) instead of handling development in-house, similar to how a decorator might decide to buy gumpaste flowers instead of making them. Stability problems are usually due to hosting issues, not problems with the code.
While it's true that it's very unlikely the old platform will be restored, it is sometimes possible to reimplement features from the old CC in the new software, either in the default view or as optional settings. That's why it is far more helpful to be as specific as possible when referring to what you liked better about the old forum than just saying "I hate it".

Agreed. On the new site you are actually defaulted to be offline (at least I was).
+1
(and no one should bother with IE anymore! FireFox is the way to go! :P)

Can some one tell me how to search the gallery for a particular cake photos pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. this is so confusing. i am try to look at christening photos. i dont know how to do it. helpppppppppppppppp. if its not broken please dont fix it. from the beginning of this month , i have missed out looking at most of the photos because i am so annoyed with the new layout. keep it simple for people like me. tks.
I ususally check the cakes daily, but this wew format is so user "unfriendly". Don't like it. Found it hard to post and didn't know what "community v personal v default" meant. Have to search around to find directions. Also had a hard time finding Favorites. Most is hidden behind login area. Wow...not good...big learning curve !!!
