being able to see the latest pics from members I have chosen to follow is also pretty cool! I use to have to go the members gallery to see if new pics had been uploaded, now you can just click "People I Follow" option in the newest cakes and latest pics are offered. this is a very cool and easy to use improvement!

I hate it also.I tried to search an Elmo cake and it gave me all different cakes.I don't have time to view 5,000 cakes to find a few cakes with that theme.Please fix or put back please.Thankyou

It's too detailed, it does too many different things.  More is not always better.

Hi, Sorry I agree with all previous comments. I do NOT like it. I prefer the old way, this new system don't allow you to access and view/search  as quick as it did the old way .
 

Wow! Really? What a shame. These folks put in so much to bring you guys an updated site which you can access FREE OF CHARGE and it's complaints galore. Nobody ever said change is easy. While the new site may be a tad difficult to navigate, it's only been up for what? A week? How about we give it and them time to settle in? How about showing some appreciation for the obvious work that went into this and offering constructive criticism? How about glory halleluyah those blasted adverts that block half the page are gone? Seriously shaking my head. I'm quite disgusted to be honest. When you develop a site equal in significance to CC without any challenges along the way, then bring your entitled, ungrateful fingers to come and type *&^%, until then, adjust or shove off.

A minor thing, but I prefer the post width to be shorter like it it with the ads at the top. When it expands out after the ads, its too long and I read the forums at work so only have the web browser open over half my screen so I keep having to scroll left and right to read posts, which means I cant multitask well cos reading the forums now takes all my activity (if that makes sense)

The ads are still there... they just formatted the page better so they don't lie over the text anymore.  Now the space is taken up by reviews on products, that are there to make them money off of Amazon, along with the ads.  The site was optimized for them to make money off of our web habits.  Not villifying them for it, but let's call it like it is no?  This site is free, but that freedom comes at a cost.  Here the cost is dealing with the convolusions that allow for more money earning clicks.  It is what it is.

 

It's obvious that people are adjusting.  Threads like this can offer solutions to the issues that people are facing.  If we all just shut up and drank the kool-aid they wouldn't know what is and isn't working easily.  They have every right to use this site to whatever end they ultimately want, but making it easy will only bring in more users which translates into more ad money and more money earning clicks for them.  I see nothing wrong with people voicing their concerns and frustrations.  No one is saying they are leaving because it's too difficult to use, but if they were I'd take that as a sign that there needs to be more tweaking done to make it more user friendly or better instructions need to be made available.

 

Dissent isn't always a bad thing.

I've got to say I'm not a big fan of the photo changes.  WAY too many steps to try and view your own or someone else's  photos.  If you don't know what category a particular cake is in, you have to  search through all of them.  I have been known to list a cake in the wrong gallery...(shocking I know)...and if there is a way to show ALL of your photos without the individual galleries I have yet to find it.  Plus the photos that do show first that represent that gallery are often not representative of my work today as compared to 3 years ago.  I tried to change the 'date created' but either it's not working or I'm screwing up somehow (very possible! ;).   

 

I really liked being able to click on the drop down menu 'my photos' and boom...there they were.  It just seems this website has become less user-friendly in its efforts to upgrade.  The best websites are almost intuitive in their design--leading you instead of you having to search.   Technology is wonderful but it can get in the way sometimes. 
 

I think it was just a lot of change at once...maybe if they rolled out a few changes at a time with a written explanation on how to get the most out of the "new" change that would have been more helpful....I actually just learned 2 new things from reading this post on how to navigate certain things! I guess we can post as we go along and learn the new lay of the land.  I see they did post "how to's" on several changes but maybe it wouldn't be so overwhelming if it was in small doses at a time.

 

The one change I would have liked the most that seems didn't happen was to be able to organize my "favorites" into categories - children's bday, baby shower, wedding, etc.  I think that would have been more helpful then some of the other changes made. 

 

It's hit or miss for me some days on here as to what's working properly and what's not.  I think if they could have just done small pieces at a time that would have helped with working out the bugs and everyone getting a chance to learn a new format before moving onto the next upgrade.  It's just hard when they change it completely after already knowing exactly how to find things with the old site if you've been around here for a long time.

 

Just my thoughts...I'll keep an eye on this thread to learn more as others figure out various "new" ways of how to find what we're looking for and navigate the changes!

I agree, with the bulk of your post. I'm all for questioning things when they need to be questioned which is why I suggested constructive criticism rather than complaining. There's a difference between: This: "Good job CC, but could you modify xyz to improve abc?" and this:  "This new design completely sucks, I hate it, wahawahawah."

I like it. But I'm always up for embracing change, especially when this site is free of charge. Only one minor thing: Does anyone know how to UNFAVORITE a photo? I already have thousands saved and I don't want to add any more because it looks like I'm married to those photos forever!

My CC account is new, but I've looked around and searched this site for years. I really liked the old way, but I also like a lot about what they have changed. Reading this it seems maybe it could have been explained better on how to use the site. I know they posted that changes were coming, and after they were made there was a temporary link explaining some new features, but I didn't really have time to look at it. I actually got kinda bored with it for some reason. I have played around looking at things and there are things I like better. Also, because I only just set my account up right before the change I don't know how it worked before, but uploading pictures is kind of time consuming. I'm sure just like with everything else people will adjust to the change.
