What do you think of the recent changes to CakeCentral? - Page 2

It always takes some time to adjust to something new.

We all need to let them work out the bugs and just take some time to learn how to get around the new system.

Change is never easy :)

I agree, it says I must suscribe, but I have only had the suscribe option come up on the forum, and on other site,   I really hate it and it is not in any way user friendly.

If you had to change things, (have no clue as to why you thought you did)  you should have gotten all your eggs in the basket before you put it on the site.  Now it is confusing, things don't work like they should or at least the way I think they should, not nearly as  easy to use ase before the big change.

Please go back to the old way, just fix the few problems we had with that, in fact go back and don't fix the problems, it was better even with problems than it is now.

I can't figure out how to search the galleries!  It was so easy to look for a particular type of cake before. For example, I would just type in "army tanks" and then I could easily hundreds of examples.  I would pop a few into my favorites, and then work from there.  I really, really hope that they change this website back to the old format.

I can't read a single post in this thread.  This is what is driving me bonkers!

There was only one modification needed to the old CC.  (not discussing security issues here)

There needs to be a toolbar NOT a drop down menu, right under the present list of drop down categories, that says CAKE INFO START HERE and put buttons for all the basic stuff that new members never find.  Too many of the forum posts have started with "how do I" that is in the stickies, or in the regular sections, or has been discussed to death the week before.

So these fixed links need to be in peoples faces a LOT more than they are even in the new CC.

I agree! I am not able to search for anything anymore! This new site is too confusing and honestly a pain.

I agree with all of you! I am really unhappy with these changes. Please go back!

Katie11, to search for an image of a cake you are looking for do the following:

1)use the search at the top of the home page (type what type of cake)

2)a new page will open up there are  three choices, ALL, THREADS, AND GALLERY IMAGES

3) select GALLERY IMAGES, and all the photos pertaining to your search will appear

Hope this helps, it took me a little while to figure it out.

Its gotten very complicated!  I agree with what others have written...I've given up some days and just logged off.  I use to just love this site...liked it the way it was with the last changes you all made.  thumbsdown.gif

No to mention the login link on the front page doesn't work for me.  Not even if I click in a thread.  I have to click on start a new thread and then log in that way.  Such a pain.  I have a feeling it has to do with my browser (IE9) but come on man.. such a pain!

OK, i can,t login either. found easier way. Right click login, then click open, BAM! sign in. It was driving me crazy and lots of time to try to get  on site.  I don,t know where all my pictures went either. But hopefully in time, things will get better. Don,t like the new changes either, but , we have to endure it , i guess.

I have a feeling our login troubles are being caused by incompatability with IE9 which will eventually be ironed out.  I can see images on some sites with IE9 but I can with FireFox and Chrome, and I bet I'd be able to log in with no issues with either of those two browsers as well, but I am used to IE, so it is what it is.

First of all people, sites never go back to "the old way" because they paid good money for the new system.

This always happens. Facebook, Myspace, Forums, Boards, whenever there is an update on the website people complain and complain, but complaining will do you absolutely no good. Learn the new way, just like you had to learn the first time you ever came here, pick out things that can be improved on, submit them courteously to an admin and move on.

Personally, I don't find what the big fuss is about.  I find searching and manoeuvring the site not a problem.  On that note I don't use Internet Explorer, I find it slow and bulky.  I use Chrome, it has full IE support, it is lightweight and fast, not all sites work will with Chrome but they do with Firefox.  Firefox has an IE Compatiblity add-on, so give Firefox or Chrome a try.  Then give this site a true look and see if there is real difference.  Both browsers are free to download.  (Yes I am a techie but believe me once you try them you will find they are very quick).

Did you know that if you select "view all" newest cakes on the home page, then click "Me" where the default is "everyone", you can see your own cakes from newest to oldest exactly the way they used to appear in the old and unimproved CC?
