just write the topic you are looking for on the Advances search box , then select the gallery image tab

I agree, but I'm thinking that it's not such a bad thing because I spent way too much time on Cake Central before!!!

I don't have any problems with this site, although I'm new, so I never knew the old way anyway. But, I don't think it's hard o navigate around, in fact it's pretty easy IMO

I do this stuff too, all the time. I almost never use the Back arrow. On any browser, you can usually right click and open the picture in another window, or hold the Ctrl key (on the PC) while clicking on a picture, and it opens a new window. You can do whatever you want there, then just click on the x to close it. I can favorite lots of cakes in a mere second this way.

How did you go about searching for it?

I typed that into the search box at the top of the site and one the search results page I clicked the gallery tab and got a whole bunch of relevant cakes:

Well da...rn. I thought it was just me. I know I'm a bit -and not a little bit: a lotta bit- of a Ludite so I was hoping that at some point I'd become used to it. I'd sit and say sternly to myself: 'Self, if this were the only layout then you'd use it ...so use it!' SO glad to know I'm not alone in this.

 Please go back to old screens, my new gallery i hate it puts some of my old work before new and improved works, harder to navigate. i used to bring up my gallery and all cakes were displayed now they are broken up into sub folders YUK. I haven't posted in any forums for a long time but i still enjoy looking at pics.

I am glad that members were actually talking about this.  The new changes in cake central made it impossible to find good credible recipes. I remember there used to be "most saved" or "most viewed" or "most commented" recipes. Now I have to view all recipes which is too time comsuming and confusing. I can't try all the recipes just to make sure it works. If I can find recipes with "most " comments and actually made changes, it will give me more confident to try the recipe. I sincerely hope someone from cake central can help out here.

Agreed. When I first started browsing here it was nice to know which recipes were tested and proven at a glance. Now it's a crap shoot so I look for recipes in places with clear rating systems instead. I did find a great Buttercream Fondant recipe here before the changes that I adore though. 

My only other grumble is that old links are broken and pleas for help from support go unanswered for weeks. I was excited about being a new member here but people use a lot of acronyms so when I find an old thread that's interesting to me, I can't learn much because I don't know what people are talking about sometimes. Instead of waiting more than two weeks for feedback, I've just gone ahead and moved on to forums and blogs where people happily answer my questions in a timely manner. I want to bake right now, not a month from now!

I still get a great deal of enjoyment from the galleries here and find the place pretty easy to navigate, but I based my decision to sign up on several features that have since been eliminated. Between that, and the many broken/lost links,  I don't find Cake Central as useful as I expected to. 

I really enjoy looking at the great work everyone's doing on this site but having trouble with a couple of parts

1) I can no longer see how many views my cakes get unless I click on each one in every subset.  Is there any easier way to look at them all like we used to? 

2) I can't seem to make myself "Active" from the bottom of the home page.  And I'm guessing that others do too because there are only 7 members and 900 guests online right now!!  Any suggestions?

3) I'm not getting any email notifications that there's a reply to a post - but I guess that's because of #2 - I'm considered inactive

4) Lastly, I wish (or is there?) an app so that I can click on right from my phone instead of going through the browser.

I know everyone's put a lot of time and hard work in on this and I do appreciate it!

I as well do not like the new layout. It was great the way it was please change it back.

You might be in INVISIBLE mode.  Click on your name at the upper right.  Then click EDIT ACCOUNT DETAILS.  Scroll down to find the box to click for INVISIBLE MODE.. See if that changes your Active status.

there are also buttons for the email notifications there.

I know the new layout takes some getting used to and we are continuing to work to make things as smooth as possible.  It is not an option to go back to the old site as this was more than a cosmetic update, the entire code base running the site is new and fixed a lot of problems that a lot of users were experiencing.  Not all of the old custom code was compatible with the new system, so we have to work through trying to add back in some of the great things from the earlier version of the website, while continuing to benefit from all the things that are working better with the new version of the site.

Thanks Heath!  While it can be nice to be invisible at other times, I did want to change it here and that did the trick!  I appreciate your response.
