So it seems that the contestants are always forced to make some disgusting savory cupcake in the first round, like salmon and dill, for instance.

My question is, when they serve their 1000-cupcake display at the event, do you think they let the guests know that one of the cupcakes isn't really a dessert cupcake like they're expecting to be served?

If I took a cupcake at a party and bit into it only to find that it contained salmon mousse and dill, I'd be totally grossed out!!!!

I have no idea. I am guessing they have a sign somewhere explaining the flavors of their cupcake display, although they never show it at the event toward the end of the episode.

I agree, I think they have something posted somewhere. If not that would be bad for business. I cant imagine a salmon cupcake ewww LOL

yeah I usually dislike the first round of Cupcake Wars... some of the ingredients they want you to use are pretty disgusting. Most of the time the judges aren't impressed anyway! I don't think it gives the bakers a real good shot at showing the judges how well they can bake when you have to use ingredients that generally aren't used in cupcakes.

I was on the Season 7 TMNT episode and we handed out the cupcakes so we were able to tell people what flavors they were.  Our round 1 cupcake was a pepperoni pizza cupcake and I was very thankful to not have to use fish or anything :)
