How to cover 9x13 - 10 inch tall cake with fondant

I have a request to do a tall ractangle cake. 9x13 and 10 inch tall. Covered with fondant. How to do this without breaking the fondant and how to make sure the cake is sturdy.

I'd use a cake board under every 2 layers. Wrap a long sheet of fondant around it, then cover the top. Be sure to use either bubble tea straws or dowels for support.

Don't bite off more than you can chew.  One day you may not be able to swallow.

The easiest way to cover that size cake would be to use the Sweettwise fondant mat. I have one and love it. The fondant sticks to the mat allowing you to position the fondant perfectly before covering your cake. The mat is inexpensive too.

Thank you! I was thinking about the cake board on each 2 layers but was not sure if that's do able or not. Roll the fondant around the cake? will it fall?

Your cake should be fine if you use boards and doweling.  As far as putting fondant on a tall cake, I watched a video on you tube about a tall round cake.  I'm sure that you can use it for that as well.

Okay, bad news is I tried to add the link to this message only to find out that the videos have been taken down yesterday!  I know that there are others.  I would just do a search or maybe someone will see this and send you another link.  Sorry I couldn't help!  :(

Thank you! I think I saw that video before. But her round cake is only 8" diameter. It's ok I decided to be a chicken and do the design flat instead of high up.

Wrapping tall cakes is the easiest.    Just make sure cake is good and cold.   Crumb it and let it sit overnight.   It will be much easier to wrap that way.   Would be nice if you had a helper.   Four hands to wrap is better than two.
