I know its early to start thinking of Christmas but I was thinking of putting cake decorating and cookie decorating books on my wish list this year . I thought I should find out which ones are the best. I love cook books and my daughter usually gets me one every year and hubby is always looking for ideas that make his shopping easier..LOL So does anyone have any favourites that they can suggest? icon_smile.gif

I just like them all Liz!! Make you a huge list so that you might get most of the items on the list!!!

I get myself books all the time so that isn't something on my list. I want a portable building so I can open a business!!!! But I know that's a lot to ask so I'm asking for an airbrush gun machine instead!!!! I keep telling my hubby to put it on layaway at my friends cake supply store... icon_smile.gif

Christmas is just around the corner so start making your wish list now!! I suggest the Colette Peters books and all three volumes of Sugarcraft. Better yet...a subscription to American Cake Decorating or another publication that you can enjoy all year!

Thanks MrsMissey and tcturtleshell I think a subscription is a good idea.. I've seen Collette Peters mentioned quite a few times so that is another good idea.. I have also seen a few people mention Toba Garrett too.. I'm thinking my list may be long this year...LOL

Gift certificates from Michaels or your favorite store. When my daug started driving and if it was a gift giving occasion she always asked for gas cards. That was pretty clever of her. She didnt have to buy gas for a while with her own money. I always ask for gift certificates.

It is a cheap thing for the list you might want to buy this yourself ( then you can ask everyone else to buy you the expensive stuff..lol) but I noticed the other day that out of all my books I have made almost every cake in the "Wilton Weddings A Romantic Portfolio" Book. And turtley how is a portable building going to work for opening a biz?

turtley, I'm with you. I told my dh the other day when we were at Lowes, those shed they have would make a great little cake shop. Some of them even have a loft area. They are huge. Just have to heat and cool and of course wire them up for the oven and stove and there you go....instant cake store.

Of course you would have to find someone to put it icon_biggrin.gif

Christmas will be here before we know it so I've already stared making a list of what I need. My fiance is not the type to go out and get me something because he hates shopping but he always gives me his credit card and tells me to buy myself whatever I want and not to worry about spending too much because he doesn't mind the money. Well usually I just get something really small because I don't want to be greedy. So I think I'll buy some tools I need for decorating. I'll probably have bought some before then on my own but I'm sure I can find something for him!!!

Thanks for all the good ideas ladies.. I think I will add them all to my list and what hubby can't find my kids can..Come January I will be reading all my new books and hopefully working on my tan at the same time..
