I want to have stuffing coming out of my bear cake or maybe even have the bear sitting in a box of stuffing. I want the cotton airy look. I've heard of using cotton candy, but not sure I can find white and I've heard it melts after a short time. Any other ideas?

Cotton Candy was my first pick. You're right...can't see finding it in white.

My next idea is marshmellows. I haven't tried it, but it may be a viable option. I would play with marshmellows kinda rolling them around in your hand. They will get that elephant look, but then they get a diffferent look & feel. kinda pull and distort them. May end up looking like cotton. Also, I would try to use the little marshmellows not stretching them as much.

Hmm. Marshmallows never stretch right for me. Perhaps you could try making your own marshmallows and forming them when they're warm?

I would consider using spun sugar.
Good luck!

thanks for the thoughts.  Spun sugar is out for me- haven't worked with that.  I've poured jewels, but that was a nightmare.  Will stick with fondant or marshmallows.

I'm not sure if you have your own cotton candy machine, but Pina Colada cotton candy is white. Maybe you could find a vendor that sells cotton candy (if you don't have a machine) that might offer that flavor (maybe a movie theatre...etc).

Don't use cotton candy unless it only has to sit out for less than an hour before being deconstructed.  I did it with my Unicorn cake and it did melt after an hour.  (Even in my freezing cold office!)
