Im making a buttercream wedding cake and I am planning on adding a silk ribbon for the border. Im worried though about oil soaking into it. Is there any tips to prevent this?? icon_smile.gif

I have always used two sided tape and wax paper on the back of the ribbon. I have read that you can iron wax paper over the ribbon and that the wax will prevent the oil from staining. I'm not brave enough to try that.

you can soak the whole ribbon first and rub out the excess then you dont have to worry about the icing marking the ribbon. You can use tape and cover the back with it or place a wax paper strip on the cake first. if you use tape it is hard to get sharp corners if it is a square cake though.

I also always use the double sided tape and apply the waxed paper to the back. It works just fine. icon_smile.gif
