Hi everyone, i havent posted for a while, ive been busy making my own birthday cake ! Its my birthday tomorow.
So i made everything in good time, its a sponge cake ( i dont like fruit cake ) so i couldnt make it before now.

Its taken a lot of work and effort ( 2 attempts) ,as all of us know, but after 3 weeks of planning and making countless flowers etc, ive done it lol

Im rather pleased with it, but now i have a MASSIVE problem!!

How do i store it ?? Its only over night till tomorow but im so petrified that my sugarpaste flowes and butterflies are going to droop, melt and or FLOP !!
The kitchen ( only room with no heating ) is too warm as is the bathroom. It the moment its in the beadroom !! And thats only 2 degrees lower than the temp in the kitchen !

Ive read that some store in fridge, others advise against this.

Has anyone any ideas? Im so worried, im not going to sleep tonight !! This is my first cake.

Thanks for reading
Cait

Your cake will be fine in the refrigerator. Your fondant decor may have some condensation when you take it out and it starts warming, but leave it alone and it will be fine. I keep my cakes cold until delivery and they are usually decorated the night before and kept in the fridge.

If you have fondant or gum paste decor that is not completely dry and you NEED it to be, then keep those things out of the refrigerator and add them to the cake when you take the cake out the next day. This advice is primarily for toppers or things that need to stand.

Thank you so much for your kind advise! Here in the uk its about 10:35pm and i was afraid i would be awake all night worrying! lol Its my birthday tomorow, i cant seem to goet the clock right on here for my time zone.

Anyway thank you again, The cake itself is coverd in fondant 'ready to roll icing' and all of the toppers ive made are sugarpaste. All but 2 were made several days ago if not last week. The two flowers i had left out in the kitchen, had flopped overnight!

I had horrible visions of my whole cake looking like that when i wake up tomoro morning ! LOL

Thank you again for your help. Hopfully i can sleep now instead of checking it every half hour Ha!
