Ok so I'm still new at making cakes but for some reason almost everytme I make a cake "8 or "9in the center is undercooked but everything else is perfect.... Does anyone know why?... If I leave it longer it gets too dry and won't be so moist so what am I'm doing wrong(usually I leave my cakes in for 28mins at 350)... I'll be doing my sons cake for his bday party on the 27th and would hate it if it was nasty... Also I'm thinking of doing a strawberry cream cheese filling what do u y'all think would be a great cake combo?... Thanks ladies!...

It's possible that the oven you're using isn't calibrated correctly. It may be hotter than the temp you are setting it to. You could easily find this out by buying a thermometer. If this turns out to be the case, adjust by lowering the oven temperature accordingly.
However, if you are baking from scratch, the recipe may also be the issue. Possibly too much wet ingredients. Good luck and hope you figure it out in time!

Your cake is baking unevenly there are a few things that could be causing this. Like pieceofcake suggest check your oven temperature first. I like to use baking strips for anything over 6in. I would also recommend using core or flower nail along with the strips; There are tutorials on how to use them on this site), this helps the cake to bake more even and prevent doming.
