I offered to make a friend's daughter a Barbie cake (the one with the actual Barbie sticking out of the top of the cake) and 3 dozen cupcakes for next weekend. I am in a jam of how to do it. I have watched numerous tutorials but I am debating the easiest way 1) use the pan that Wilton sells and stack it on top of a single layer round for the bottom. 2) Bake individual layers 6-8-9-10 and carve it to look like a dome shape.

I am planning to do all the baking tomorrow afternoon and do the Barbie cake decorating Friday night after work.

I did one recently, I used the Wilton pan + a 6" cake and that seemed to be tall enough for the whole Barbie. No need to do any carving or shaping. The 6" was just the right size as the bottom of the Wilton pan. I did use the 6" /3" pan rather than the 6"/2" . There's. pic of my final results in my photos. I wrapped the legs in Saran Wrap and put some buttercream over that to fit well in the hole I made. Good luck! Altogether it took about 3 box mixes ( the mom found her fav choc ones for me to make )
