Have you seen this yet:
Calijava posted it in their latest Wednesday email. It a great little tutorial!
One question for you all. I know she mentions being able to carve almost any type of cake.... BUT do you have any idea what KIND of cake she is using in the video?
I currently use a WASC variation, which is great, but from the look of this video - I would love to give that kind of cake a whirl for carving!
TIA!!
Great video, thanks for posting it!!
The cake looks like one from Sam's or Costco? I totally could be wrong lol
lol could be...i just have seen some decorators use cakes that look very solid, with very little air holes, and such. I'd like to expand my cake types.
She's definitely using store bought cakes. I took a class from her last year and we were given the exact same type of cakes for carving. They were quite firm vanilla cakes that carved well. Unfortunately I don't know where they came from. Someone else mentioned they had been ordered from some bakery. Sorry I can't be more help.
Yeah I figured as much. She would be crazy to try to bake up all her own cakes for classes! Well, does anyone know of some good cake types that are more dense for carving? WASC works, but there have been times I could use something more substantial.
