Does anyone know approximately how many cupcakes dawns vanilla butter cake recipe will yield? I need to make 500 cupcakes (gasp) and want to make sure I have the right amount of ingredients before I get started. Tia!

The number of cupcakes the recipe makes will depend on how big your cups are and how full you fill them. The recipe says 2 regular layer pans so you might get 18-24 "standard" cupcakes.

Best way is to make one recipe and fill some pans by measuring or by weight. Draw yourself a map of the pan and its different amounts. Bake them and see which ones you like the best.

Then you can calculate the amount of batter you will need for 500. You can mix the recipe in a 4X batch as long as it doesn't sit for more than an hour before baking.

PS I think the baking time in the recipe is too long. Start with 15 minutes. Another reason to do a test.

I cant help you w/ any amounts...but have you used this recipe for cupcakes before with success?

Only reason i ask...is this use to be my go to for cakes..loved it..but everytime i tried to make cupcakes...there would usually be a flop. they always shrunk and caved in...if i made 4 batches...3 would be good and one would be bad...or made 1 batch it would be great..made another batch the same way...a mess. Just putting that out there just incase you haven't done it yet, you may want to test!!

Good Luck!

ASorry, I never got notices of replies :) that's good advice! Yes I've made them ( now) and they did do good. Haven't made more than just one batch... So we shall see :)
