Cake servings

Hello everyone,
I am new to this forum and i am glad i found it, it is extremely helpful. I have a question. I was asked to make a 2 tier cake for 40 ppl, what pan sizes should i use to have more than enough cake for 40 ppl??

Hi, I would use a 10 inch round and a 6 inch round. This will give you approx. 50 servings.

Hi and welcome. This site has a vast wealth of info. I don't know how much cake baking you do but I just downloaded the most awesome app called Tiered Caker. You plug in the number of servings and it will tell you the size pans based on shape and serving size whether it be party, wedding or custom. It has been the best app I have ever purchased! I haven't been doing this long enough to know without having to look it up every time. This is so fast and easy!

Here is another way to figure out your servings, also has a bunch of other helpful info on the chart. http://www.wilton.com/cakes/making-cakes/baking-wedding-cake-2-inch-pans.cfm This is also included in every Wilton yearbook, so if you have any one of those from the past years you can look it up there.
