Wedding Cake Inquiry for Sept. 2015!!???

Ok so here's a new one for me. Just had a bride email about a wedding cake in which she wants hand-made figurines on, etc., etc. After a couple emails back and forth she finally tells me the date she's looking at is in September of 2015! Has anyone encountered an inquiry like this before? I've booked a year out before but never three! I can't even guarantee I'll still be doing this in three years! Any recommendations on how to reply to this one?

I am about to a wedding next month that I booked three years ago. I just kept it on my books tentatively and confirmed it a year out . I made them aware that priced would likely change in the three years.

Yeah, I would say I'd love to plan it with you, but I won't give you a price quote until a year out. No way would I take a confirmed and locked in order for that far out.
Someone must be really, really really excited!

I've had three requests for tasting appts for 2015 weddings in the last month or so. I tell them that I only book out a year ahead and to call back closer to the date.

do they even have a groom picked out that early?? lol I just find that strange to be engaged for three years before the wedding..

it's not terribly uncommon to have longer engagements. my cousin proposed to his girlfriend last year and they're not getting married until next October. She's still planning the wedding, but she's not as rushed to do it as she would be if they got married after a year.
