Hi, I've seen some lovely cakes on here (can't find them at the moment, though) with strips of fondant wrapped round the cake in layers.
I've tried a quick search for info on how to do them, but not come up with anything useful. Perhaps someone who has made one could answer a few questions, please?
Do you cover the whole cake with a layer of fondant first? Are the strips pure fondant or did you mix in gumpaste? How long would you say the ideal strip is? Did you need to support them in anyway until they dried?
I am hoping to make a cake for my children's teacher who is having a rough time at the moment, so any help would be much appreciated.
