Hello CC,
I have used Wilton Purple Color Gel twice, in my All-Butter Buttercream but get a greyish color instead, at the same instant. Please tell me how can i get a nice purple color to pipe flowers using wilton gel colors as i dont have any other brand available. And any idea why am i getting a greyish purple may co my BC is of yellowish tint.
Thank you so much.
Are you putting enough color in? I'd say that just a tiny bit of color would have a very light purple/grey color, but you just need to add a bit more in. If you want a deep purple, you'll have to add quite a bit.
I had this problem yesterday. I added Wilton's purple gel to my BC and it was a pale greyish purple. When I added more and finally got the right colour, the frosting was bitter. I had to dump it. I also have the same challenges with wilton's pink gel food colouring. By the time I get the colour I want, the icing is very bitter. I'm thinking of switching it americolor.
The colour purple breaks down with age, probably where you purchased it.they may have had it for a long time.
Thats odd. I never had any problems with Wiltons purple. I even prefer it over Americolors purple (which I rarely do with wilton) because its much more vibrant. Maybe you had a bad batch?
