Sps- Need Advice From Experts.

I have a wedding cake this weekend and I just realized that I was shorted my 10" separator plates on my last order. (There isn't a local place that carries them) Has anyone ever used an 8" SPS plate under a 10" cake? The cake will be sitting almost flush with the cake underneath, so I was thinking I could use 2 cardboard rounds for support and then the 8" SPS plate.
I have used SPS a lot, but have never run into this before.
Thank you!!!
I've use a 6 inch plate under an 8 inch cake with no problems. I too double my cake boards just for extra stability but I'm not sure it's necessary. Hope that helps.
That only amounts to a 1" overhang beyond the SPS. I've done 1" (1/2" overhang) smaller many times to better hide the edge and it works just fine. How many tiers are on top of the 10", if its only 1 more I wouldn't worry at all, if its 2 tiers above, I may go with 2 cardboards just to be safe.
