I need edible rods- something for support but edible! Ideas?

I need something to hold the roof on my tractor which will look like the one I have attached. I don't like using non-edible things on my cakes, I like for everything to be edible, which does make it complicated I know!

I need something like those white candy sticks but really long!? Or candy cane but they may be too think? If anyone has any ideas thanks so much!

Pretzel rods dipped in chocolate, but they'll be thicker than the ones in the photo.

How about thick spaghetti dipped in several layers of chocolate?

I think either the thin pretzel rods remove the salt and wrapped in fondant (rolled) or the thin bread sticks

Maybe pretzel sticks instead of pretzel rods?

Maybe "Reception Sticks"?

Maybe Japanese "Pocky" chocolate-covered biscuit sticks?

It doesn't look like they need to support a whole lot of weight.

Your spaghetti idea may be a better one.

Roll the rods out of the same fondant you are using for the rest of the tractor. Let them dry a few days. That way the colour will match.

Why dont you put some gumpaste/flower paste into a clay gun. place the disc with the biggest hole in it and squeeze out four long strands for the posts . i am sure if you leave it out for a couple of days it should dry and be strong enough to hold the roof. those poky sticks are also a good idea.

I use straw's and fill them with chocolate,
you need 2 straw's , cut both of them lenght wise en slide them over each other with the slit on opposite sides , and then fill with melted chocolate and pop in the friezer for few min for chocolate to harden and you should be able to take of the straw's easy,
Hope this helps icon_wink.gif
