How Do I Make These Chevron Stripes Gold?

I have asked Erica O Brian on her pic how she got the gold on so thick but I am sure she is busy! I have painted with gold luster dust before but you can still see the white through it. Any ideas how to achieve this same look? What product tp be used and technique. Thanks a million! http://cakecentral.com/gallery/2311703/gold-chevron-with-sugar-flowers
You need to find something specifically called "gold highlighting powder". Mine is the CK brand. This is not like luster dust. When mixed right with vodka or whatever thinning liquid you prefer, it looks exactly like molten gold. That's what you need.
Also, the latest I've seen is Nicholas Lodge using Orange oil to mix with his dust to paint with. No streaks and coverage is beautiful! Tasted yummy too!
Great question! Have you tried airbrushing w/Duff's gold airbrush color? You can doulbe coat after 1st coat dries.
I've painted gold onto fondant using Americolor Gold Airbrush paint. It takes more than one coat, but I've painted over white and had an opaque finish.
Thanks everyone! I will look into the highlighting powder and duffs color! Using orange oil is an awesome tip as well, I bet it would smell delicious!
