Flying with cake supplies

I'm flying from Denver to Cleveland to make my nephews first birthday cake and I have to take a lot of my stuff with me. I know I'll have to check most of it, but I'm worried about the modeling chocolate figures I need to take with me. I want to carry them on but I'm not sure how that'll work with security. They're going to be all modeling chocolate with a few toothpicks to hold things together. I would just be crushed if I wasn't allowed to bring them. And I don't want to check them because I've seen the way baggage handlers throw bags! If anyone's been in the same situation or has any input on the best way to pack please let me know. I'm super nervous!!!

I would try calling the airline. They can tell you what they allow.

I agree - call them. I know I've taken a whole cake in my carry on just a year ago on one airline (Southwest I think), but Spirit airlines just said only food that you intend to consume on the plane. Although they might not consider that "food" - I suppose it also depends on who you talk to.

I flew from Dallas to Rochester with flowers and castle pieces in a see-thru tote - - they went through security at the airport and nothing was said about them. They didn't seem to be the least bit curious about them and I think it was because I made every effort for them to be visible and not look like I was trying to hide anything.
