Hi everyone!
I have a question! I'll make a quinceanera cake in two weeks and I'm very nervous because it's going to be purple. How long in advance can I make the cake? The purple color will fade to blue or get darker during the day? Is it ok to have the cake ready in the morning and let it a room temperature until 8 PM or so?
Your purple is going to stay purple. Just use a nice gel coloring and you re good. I m soon going to get americolor food coloring. I heard it s awesome. You can make your cakes months in advance if u freeze it properly like many people do. I usually like to do it three days before the event, leave it at room temperature and frost it and decorate the day after. That s for me though.

You will have to keep your cake out of window lighting or bright overhead lighting. It WILL FADE IT!!!! Nichols Lodge sells a NO FADE PURPLE. i still would not let it be in open lighting, etc. hth BEEN THERE!!!!
I had a large 25th wedding anniversary cake that I iced on Thursday/Friday and it was fine on Saturday.
It totally depends on the brand of food coloring oyu use. If there's a no-fade purple use that. I used Wilton colors once and a purple cake faded to blue in an hour.
