Hello all. I have a cake request for Yo Gabba Gabba and it has been nearly impossible to find reasonably priced figurines. I have seen them on Amazon for about $200! Has anyone seen anything suitable for a cake that is more reasonably priced? Thanks a bunch in advance

You cannot legally "make" the figures and sell them unless you've received permission from the copyright holder (Nickelodeon).
Just use the Deco-Pak for $9.00. http://www.amazon.com/Decopac-Gabba-Toppers-Party-Supplies/dp/B002843YIG/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1347895161&sr=8-3-fkmr0&keywords=yo+gabba+gabba+deco+pak

True. But does that not go for the cake also. If she is making and illegally selling it whats the difference in adding illegal characters. You can not legally sell a yo gabba cake with or without characters.

It's easy to do a colorful cake that would complement the Deco-Pak characters without violating the copyright. That is how I handle all copyright character requests.

I'm going to make a Yo Gabba Gabba cake for my daughter's birthday and emailed Nickelodeon asking permission, even though I'm not selling it or posting pictures of it anywhere...just wanted to do it all nice and legally! Anyway, they got back to me within a week giving me permission. It was am email and not an official letter on their letterhead or anything, but it was something!

If you purchase licensed figures or a decopac you can legally sell the cake with copyrighted characters without permission (from a copyright perspective anyway, you still need to follow local food safety laws), the only thing you can't do is make your own copies of the characters without permission from the copyright owner.
