Hi everyone,

Kind of a lax week. working on all sorts of projects but only one cake this week. It's a party cake for a clients dinner party tomorrow night. It's the ganache cake I was talking about last week so I'll be busy tomorrow but not tonight.

Who is working on something...dying to see some of your work tonight since I've been enjoying some time off...who wants to share???

Just working on the decorations for a cake due the first week of Oct. The penguins are short little fat guys, so I want them to have plenty of time to dry. They're based on a cake the client sent me, and no idea who's original design it is, but it's a cute idea.

Also made some gumpaste for a 4 tier demo wedding cake.

I'm attaching a picture of the penguins I have finished so far. Only 5 more to go! The cake in the picture is about the size of a quarter!

Just finished a cake with techniques I've never used before. Love doing something new. Bride has metal lanterns as table decorations so she wants silver scrolls on her cake. To get them uniform I extruded gumpaste, placed them on a piece of waxed paper with drawn on design - to dry then painted them with silver food coloring. Looks great. The other thing I tried is a cup of melted wedding white candy melts in my homemade MMF. Love the satin look and feel the chocolate gives it.

Hi Cat and everyone,

Debi , I love the penquins.

No cakes due out for me this week , I had an easy one . I taught on Tuesday , Lillies this week . I soaked my fruit for fruitcakes . next week also an easy week . I am teaching lillies to the other half of my students . I have to work out something christmassy to teach at the club workshop. I have to finish off a couple of cakes for the Rose show coming up. And I probably need to prepare for my Peony demonstration at the next club meeting.

Hmmm when I write it all down it doesn't seem like much of an easy week now does it ?

Thanks for the comments on the penguins! I just made another one wearing a beret and playing a sax...my idea of a sax anyway! I have free rein on the penguins, so I think the next one I make might look like a hula dancer!

Catlharper- I just Googled "Club Penguins", and that MUST be what they are! They even have those little "pom pom" looking guys! The client is a grown man who is ordering the cake for his girlfriend (who loves penguins), and he just looked up "Penguin Cakes" and sent along the picture! I bet he has no idea what it is! Heck I didn't even know!

Hi Everyone. Missed you all. I'm wrapping up my slow season. Took the longest vacation. My grandaughter has been with me and I've gotten to play with my great-grandbabies for a whole month. Enjoyed every moment.

I still don't have any cakes until the end of the month. Then I will be busier than a beaver.

Debi, just love those penguins. Gonna have to steal the idea for 2 young ladies I know who just love them.

I will be working on gigglebelly cookies, lollipops and smash cake soon.

Enjoy the weekend!

Debi, I will let Jack know in the morning that he was right<G> He will be EVER so proud! LOL! And, no, I'm sure the client has no idea but they are SUPER cute so it won't matter.

Ginn, I've been workin' the event side of our biz the past two weeks. I have one cake this week then next week I'm off to work a wedding in Hawaii. I am doing a small cake for the event, just an 8x4, but it's fairly simple in design so it should be no big deal to do in the borrowed kitchen there. Mainly we are working the event side of it. Either way we get to see a friend get married, we get to see all the little details of ours come to life and we get a long weekend in Hawaii! Not a bad deal at all<G>

Speaking of which...due to flying out on Friday morning, I won't be here next Friday night for the FNCC. If someone else wants to start it up 7:45pst then great but if not then I will see everyone again on the following Friday the 28th.
