This past weekend I took a last minute cake order that I almost passed up. I already had a large cupcake wedding I had to do and being just me, I usually only do one order. Plus this lady emailed me from London and all I could think was SCAM. She paid by credit card and named off names at the venue so I figured it was ok. She had gotten married earlier in California and were finally able to come to Western NY to celebrate with her husband's family. It was a small 2 tier square cake for 50 people, white with buttercream. So, I took the order. Today I get notice from my website that there was a new entry on my guest book. This is what she wrote:
"We had two wedding receptions, one in L.A. and one in Albion. Dolce Isola, the bakery for the Ivy, the famous celebrity restaurant in Beverly Hills, made my cake in L.A. and Sarah made the one in Albion. There was no comparison. The Sweet Escapes cake was moist, had incredible texture, and was delicious from cake to icing."
I couldn't believe it!!! I was originally just going to do cupcakes but ended up getting into cakes recently. I am not comfortable yet with them because I am self taught and just nervous in general with them. This made my day! I had to tell someone!
Congratulations! Well done! I see many more delicious cakes in your (and other people's) future.
Congrats! And good for you for not rejecting an order just because it came from out of the area.
You might want to contact the customer and ask if they could also write a review for you on Yelp.com to get more exposure.
