Norwegian Birthday cake

So my grandpa is Norwegian, and there is a cake my mom makes called a "Norwegian Birthday cake" it is a very moist spongy type cake that has a pudding frosting that is whipped with heavy whipping cream.
Has anyone else heard of this cake? Made it into cupcakes?

As a Norwegian native I think the cake is 'verdens beste" maybe? Can provide link to the recipe. Also known as Kvæfjord kake.
