Today I went toy local Health Department and co op regarding the minimum specifics of what's needed in a home kitchen. Neither of them were able to clearly help me out; it was if this was the first time someone in my county wanted to operate legally from home. The HD handed me a thin stapled pamphlet from the co op regarding how to brainstorm the thought-NO specifics. Verbally, I tried to ask what was needed based of off online posts. Neither, were able to fully address what I needed. ( for ex, Hd said I needed a 3compartment stainless steel sink and separate hand washing sink. Co cp said I needed only a2compartment sink. And there are other mismatched requirements.)

If you are/were operating a legal at home kitchen for cake business, will you assist me as of what was required of you in AL?

You can find information at http://adph.org/foodsafety/Default.asp?id=1139 or type in st of AL restaurant codes. Rules for Food Establishment Sanitation. At this time the state of AL does not allow licensed home kitchens. You'll need a licensed and inspected commerical approved kitchen to work out of. My inspector comes from our counties Health dept, Environmental Health division. They are very nice and very knowledgable. I'll be happy to answer any questions that you have if you want to pm me. I have been in business for 5 years. I have known them to permit a separate structure on your property that meets all the requirements usually with it's own septic system or tie in to the waste system in rural areas. But that is very rare and costly. You may want to find and rent an already established restaurant building and go from there. Sweet blessings, Pam

It already has separate entrance, etc. however, the inner components as well as what licenses, type of permits, etc. are needed in AL to startup? As well as what specifications of the kitchen are needed?....
