whats the difference if any between the two?

Piping gel is a solution of sugar with a gelling agent cooked in, it will sit in place if piped on a flat surface.

Glucose is a dense syrup that adds invert sugar to formulas like fondant and candy. This prevents crystallization of large sugar crystals.

NOT THE SAME AT ALL.

Here is a recipe for piping jelly if you are interested in making it.
Piping Jelly Recipe »

Ingredients:
- ¼ cup lemon juice
- 1 level tablespoon corn flour
- ¼ cup water
- 4 tbs castor sugar
Method:
Place all ingredients in a small saucepan and dissolve over low heat stirring continuously till mixture comes to the boil.
Let the mixture thicken. Then remove from heat.
If mixture thickens too much add a little more water.
Store in fridge in airtight container.
Sugar Art Tip... Footnote on piping jelly and uses:
It can be used to coat a dummy prior to covering the dummy with Pettinice.
Used for rice paper painting and in making gold and silver piping mediums.
and stained glass windows, also to create a champagne look on cake by whipping it to form bubbles.

i am covering a cake dummy tonight and wanted to piping gel.
i am not aware of what pettinice is.
will this an issued when covering the dummy? i am ready to cover shortly.

Pettinice is just another name for fondant.

I just looked at the ingredients of glucose...it's just plain old LIGHT CORN SYRUP...imagine that!!

That may be so, but glucose is an invert sugar and won't revert back to crytalline form and is thus much better for certain applications.
