I was wondering if a Mud Cake would work in a skull pan? I want to make some Calavera/sugar skull cakes for halloween and thought the moistness and shelf life of a mud cake would be perfect. I have the wilton skull pan will be covering the skulls in fondant then doing elaborate royal icing and sugar work on them.

Trying out Mud cakes is on my to-do list, so i don't have experience with them, so i'm not sure. any difference in chocolate or the white/caramel recipes in firmness? Will they hold a molded pan shape?

thanks!

Mud cakes hold shapes great , doesn't matter which one you use, If I am using a different shaped tin, I will sit the tin on a couple of layers of newspaper and make a collar to wrap around the outside of the tin as well .
