I often use glitter on my gumpaste decorations. I let the glitter dry and shake off the excess before putting the decorations on the cake. But whatever I do, some glitter will eventually fall on the cake.

Is there a way to fix glitter so it stays on the decorations? I don't want to mix glitter with gel but could I spray something on the decorations without affecting the sparkle effect and while being food safe?

As a test (not for a cake), I tried using hair spray and it worked great...but obviously, I can't do this for a cake.

Thank you!

There is edible gumpaste glaze that can be dipped, poured on, or diluted and sprayed with a mister. This is your best route for large numbers of pieces.

There is also edible spray glaze that costs a fortune because it usually can't be shipped by air.
