So i'm using pure gumpaste to make roses for my sisters wedding cake, never done roses before >_>. the problem i'm having is that they keep drooping. i have them all 1/4 the way done as in...only about 3 petals on each, and wrapped tinfoil around them to keep the petals from ruining all the flowers. Need help, any tips i can use to correct what ive done so far? (cant start over) and to help me in finishing them all correctly? please help!

Dry them either in a cup (an apple worm or cups of aluminum foil) or if on wire, hang them upside down. It shouldn't take long for them to dry enough. Each layer of petals needs to dry some (as I remember about an hour) before you can put the next layer on.

I normally hang roses upside down to ensure that the petals stay close together. If you can't hang them upside down (I used to have roses hanging off of every doorknob in the kitchen before I got smart and bought a cheap shoe rack to use as a place to hang them till they set), another option is to get some of that knobbly memory foam they sell at walmart for making cushions, and nestle your roses between the knobs of foam till your petals are set enough that they don't droop.

i tried hanging them upside down to dry, however they were soooo droopy that the petals were all drooping together and trying to stick together, what am i doing wrongg? . am i supposed to cut the petals, ruffle them...and then let them set for a bit before putting them on the rose bud? someone mentioned that sometime, i just dont know if it has any fact behind it?

How fast is the gumpaste drying? Is it really humid today where you are?

humidity is at 45%...so its not CRAZY humid, but everything ive seen online is people forming these petals with their hands and having them stay...i form them with my hands and they droop down to whatever position i don't want them in. >_>. they'er drying okayyy fast i guess, i have them all hung upside down on the bottom of my cubboards like one of the others suggested, it seems to be working okay, i just wish i could get them to stay in their ripped petal position, not turn into....this.

Which product are you using, and what instructions are you following?

Are you using the wilton gumpaste which you mix with water? If so, it is a pain when there is humidity. If you could make some with tylose,it will be worth it and save a lot of aggravation.
Thin your petals with the ball tool and place them in spoons for just a few minutes to dry cupped but should still be pliable and then attach.
To dry, if you have a cookie rack, place it on 4 tall glasses to raise and hook your roses to the rack.

Sounds like you are using too much glue, wipe it off with your finger before sticking the petal on so there is very little on there, too much is worse than not enough.
